Japan Air Gases and Iwatani International Corporation decide to merge their cryogenic equipment manufacturing activities June 28, 2005

 

The cryogenic equipment manufacturing business (production of storage tanks and transportation vehicles for liquefied cryogenic gases and related engineering services) is a highly competitive market in Japan requiring both a high level of technology and a very competitive cost structure. In this environment and in order to reinforce their competitiveness and growth in this important field of activity, Japan Air Gases and Iwatani International Corporation intend to merge their respective cryogenic equipment manufacturing business.

To achieve this, Japan Air Gases and Iwatani International Corporation plan on combining their cryogenic equipment manufacturing business in one company, which will enable a more effective utilization of each other’s resources as well as create an efficient platform to accelerate their development in particular in the field of high added value equipments and services. This company will be established by integrating Iwatani Industrial Gases’ cryogenic equipment activity in Mitoyo-gun, Kagawa prefecture into Japan Air Gases’ A-TEC Ltd. in Akashi-city in Hyogo prefecture (A-TEC was already successfully consolidated in 2003 with AL Japan’s cryogenic manufacturing at the start of Japan Air Gases).

Japan Air Gases and Iwatani International Corporation regard this merger of their cryogenic manufacturing activities as a very important step towards reinforcing their long term alliance for the efficient utilization of industrial resources in the field of Industrial and Medical Gases.

3. Investment Ratio : Japan Air Gases 60% Iwatani Group 40%
4. Headquarter and Plant : 20-1, Minamifutami, Futami-cho, Akashi-city, Hyogo prefecture
5. Employees : 69 (tentative)
6. Estimate Sales : 4.5 Billion yen (2006
7. Scope : Manufacturing (and related services) of small, medium and large-scale cryogenic tanks, containers and vehicles for liquefied air gases, Hydrogen and LNG.
